The Byzantine

This is one of the first designs I ever played with, and it is still my favourite. There is no real reason I have named it "Byzantine", other than after I completed my first one, my husband said something to the effect that it looked "byzantine", and its pattern does resemble the byzantine style chain, even if only superficially.
Each piece is hand cut, wound, zig-zagged, and hammered. The jump ring links joining them are also hand wound and cut. The clasp gets a little filing before being shaped, to ensure that there is no snagging when worn over clothing.
I love this necklace over turtlenecks as well as with low cut tops. There is no set length it should hang to, so deciding its length is up to you. My bellydance instructer turned the one I gave her into a choker and a bracelet set! I like mine to hang about two to three inches lower than my collar bone, but that's just me.
There are also earrings to compliment this design.
